Though it sits on a main road a few minutes from Ichigaya station, this branch of the legendary Tamachi-based Passage Coffee has the feel of a hidden backstreet cafe. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and with nineteen seats the shop is intimate in scale but just big enough that you'll probably find someplace to sit and enjoy your coffee.
The light roasts here are complex and fruity, with hand-drip, Aeropress and espresso coffees available at various price points and levels of extravagance. There are usually around five single-origin beans to choose from. The Passage Roastery uses a Dutch-made Giesen roaster, and you can buy beans to go. The shop's owner, Shuichi Sasaki, is a past World Aeropress Champion.
The food menu features a wide variety of well-made cakes and pastries, which vary by the day. Background music tends towards 1970s folk-rock, and there's free wi-fi.
