Tex-Mex cuisine and American-style craft beers make an excellent match, and we're pleased to report that both the food and the drink at this flashy brewery-run restaurant are top-notch. The brewery is Shizuoka's West Coast Brewing, known for their creative, experimental brews, with a heavy emphasis on American West Coast-style IPAs. WCB beers are served here from twenty taps, and canned beers are also ready for take-out.

At the heart of the food menu is a tempting selection of tacos, stuffed with birria, steak, shrimp, pork (carnitas) or chicken tikka. All the varieties we've tried have been quite satisfying, but the birria tacos are especially recommended. The stewed beef filling comes in a crunchy fried taco shell that's served with a richly flavored, meaty consomme for dipping.

The shop's original mac 'n' cheese is scrumptious and distinctive, and is one of our favorite mac 'n' cheeses in town. It's made with two different noodles (shell-shaped cavatelli and skinny tubular bucatini) and incorporates a few different cheeses, variously gooey or toasted to crispness, to achieve enticing contrasts in both flavor and texture.

Another beer-friendly side dish is chicken wings in various styles. We enjoyed the Buffalo version, the meaty wings coated in slightly spicy BBQ sauce and served with a mild (not so blue-cheesy) dipping sauce and very fresh skinny celery sticks.

Burritos, quesadillas, fajitas and salads round out the main-dish menu, augmented by smaller snack items like mozzarella sticks, onion rings, guacamole and nachos.

Service is refreshingly friendly and notably efficient - beers arrived at the table almost immediately after being ordered via QR code. If you have trouble choosing from the big beer selection you can opt for a three-part tasting flight with your choice of any of their beers. Wine, cocktails, spirits and soft drinks are also available.

The decor is modern and attractive, with seating at the bar, a central raised counter, smaller tables, and a handful of outdoor tables on the front terrace. There's a good sound system, with live DJs on certain nights. Ordering is by QR code from an online ordering system, though there are also regular menus for both beer and food that you can peruse without taking out your cell phone.
